Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services has four boys’ residential facilities in Petaluma, California. Just 30 miles north of San Francisco, our boys dual-diagnosis program encompasses over twenty-two acres, allowing ample space for individual and group therapy, WASC-accredited academics, and outdoor spaces. The campus includes soccer fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and the Jennifer Golick Family Learning Center used for music therapy, yoga, meditation, and other experiential therapies.
A significant amount of thought goes into our campus settings. For many of our clients, this may be their first exposure to treatment. For some, their first time away from home. When these boys and girls come to Muir Wood and walk through the doors of our beautiful, homelike campuses, these settings help them to initially engage in treatment and the process of healing.”Scott Sowle, Founder, Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services
Established in 2013, Skillman North boys campus spans six acres of private farmland and was the very first Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services campus. Offering exceptional specialized adolescent mental health and substance abuse treatment, our turn of the century farmhouse is the ideal place for teens to explore and process sensitive issues, build strong peer relationships, and maintain a focus on education and recovery.
Located on 6 acres of Sonoma County farmland, Skillman South is one of Muir Wood’s behavioral health centers for boys. It features an array of amenities that allow boys aged 12 to 17 to heal through physical activity, like a lighted basketball court, soccer field and volleyball court. The Jennifer Golick Family Learning Cente, and the Muir Wood Learning Center provide adolescents with the tools and guidance to remain focused on academic work and recovery.
Muir Wood’s Skillman East campus is just a stone’s throw from Skillmand North and Skillman South. This dual-diagnosis center provides boys, ages 12-17, a safe environment where they can feel empowered to take control of their recovery and manage their mental health. Our program includes 12-Step meetings, physical fitness, and life skills development—support that will enable these boys to continue on a path of recovery and sobriety long after their stay.
