Experience
Sam D. Worrall, M.S., LMFT, has nearly a decade of experience supporting individuals and families impacted by substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. He has worked as a clinical therapist at Psychiatric Alternatives and Wellness as well as a clinical supervisor at HumanSave.
In a forensic therapist role with Riverside County, Sam worked with incarcerated veterans on substance use treatment and helped develop a discharge planning and case management program to support successful community reintegration. At Kaiser Permanente, Sam worked as a Chemical Dependency Recovery Counselor, supporting adults, adolescents, and their families through substance use recovery.
Education
Sam received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). He then earned his Masters of Science in clinical counseling psychology from CSUSB. During his education, he completed research in the Trauma and Resiliency Laboratory under the supervision of Christina M. Hassija, Ph.D. and attained a Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative certification.
Role at Muir Wood
Sam is currently serving as the Clinical Director at Muir Wood’s Riverside programs, where he brings a deep commitment to trauma-informed care at Edgewild Campus, Bradley Ranch Campus, and Da Vinci Campus.
Sam believes that effective care involves both supporting the individual and engaging their families as essential partners in the healing process. At the Riverside campuses, he collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to foster an environment where teens feel safe, heard, and empowered.
Personal Interests
In his personal time, Sam embraces activities like axe throwing, rock climbing, and hiking. These pursuits bring excitement, challenge, and balance to his life. He prioritizes regular exercise to support both his physical and mental well-being. He also enjoys movies and staying connected by playing video games with friends.
