Our staff has been working with adolescents for over 25 years and many are recognized as experts in the field of adolescent substance abuse and behavioral health. We are committed to helping you and your family find the best possible treatment for your son and will work collaboratively with you throughout the admissions process.
Our mission statement at Muir Wood reads, “Through compassion and integrity we inspire ourselves and others to find meaning and purpose in our lives so that we can be of service and a catalyst for positive and lasting change.”
Our highly trained staff will guide you through the admissions process and help your family begin the process of healing. When you call Muir Wood you will speak with one of the professionals on our treatment team. We will spend as much time with you as you need and discuss all the available treatment options for your son. Sometimes, your son may not meet criteria for residential treatment. Our belief is to admit kids at a level of care where they can best succeed. If we feel that your son ( or daughter if calling for IOP program) would benefit from another program or perhaps a less intensive program, we will help you find the level of care that is most appropriate. Our goal is simple, to “be of service and a catalyst for positive and lasting change.”
The first step in the admissions process is to speak with a professional from our treatment team. At this time, we will ask you a number of questions about the specific issues confronting your family and walk you through the intake assessment. This comprehensive screening may include discussions with our Clinical Director, Medical Director, Psychiatrist, Academic Director or other treatment team members. We also strongly suggest that parents visit the campus of Muir Wood if possible prior to making a decision to admit their son. This allows parents an opportunity to meet the clinical team that will be working directly with the family, tour the exceptional grounds, and meet the other boys currently enrolled in the program. We know that this can be a very difficult time for parents. We welcome parents to meet every member of the team and answer any questions they have.
Jennifer Golick, Ph.D., LMFT, our Clinical Director, explains why family therapy is critical to the success of adolescent treatment at the California teen treatment center.
