Offering Teen Mental Health and Substance Use Support Close to Home

Help for teens. Hope for families. Healing starts here.

If you’re a parent in the Central Valley navigating the emotional rollercoaster of teen mental health challenges, you’re not alone, and you shouldn’t have to travel far to get the help your family needs. That’s why we’re proud to share that Muir Wood Teen Treatment has opened a new Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Clovis, CA– a big step forward in making compassionate, evidence-based care more accessible for teens and families right here in the Clovis/Fresno community.

Why This Program Matters

Too often, families are stuck between options that don’t quite fit. Weekly therapy may not be enough, but full-time residential treatment might feel too disruptive. That’s where an IOP comes in. It’s a flexible, after-school program designed for teens who need more support but still want to stay connected to home, school, and their daily routines.

At our new Clovis location, teens ages 12–17 receive structured group therapy 3-4 afternoons a week, along with individual sessions, family support, and optional 12-step services if they’re working through substance use. It’s real help, designed for real life.

“Our IOP creates a safe, supportive space where teens can gain insight, build coping skills, and keep growing—without stepping away from daily life,” says Dr. Ian Wolds, PsyD, our Chief Clinical Officer.

What Makes Muir Wood’s Clovis IOP Unique?

We’re proud to be the only provider in the Central Valley offering both residential (boys and girls) and outpatient treatment programs specifically for teens. That means smoother transitions, better continuity of care, and a team that truly understands how to support teens at every stage of their journey.

Here’s what families can expect:

  • Therapy that fits into life: After-school sessions 3-4 times a week with licensed clinicians
  • A team that understands teens: Age-appropriate, evidence-based care from professionals who specialize in adolescent treatment
  • Family is part of the process: We offer family therapy, parent support, and thoughtful care planning every step of the way

Real-world tools: Teens build emotional regulation, resilience, and healthy coping skills using proven models

Designed for the Teens, and Parents, Who Need It Most

Whether your teen is facing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, or emotional struggles that just won’t let up, our Clovis IOP provides a path forward. And with little to no wait times and in-network coverage through most major insurers, it’s more accessible than you might think. Read about our new Clovis IOP here.

“Families in the Central Valley have been waiting too long or traveling too far to find appropriate care for their teens,” says Stacey Irving, CEO of Muir Wood. “We’re honored to now offer expert, age-specific support right here in Clovis.”
