Residential Treatment in Riverside County
The Edgewild program serves adolescent girls who need more intensive support than outpatient or school-based services can provide, delivering 24/7 clinical care in a setting designed for safety and healing. The campus is located in Arlington Heights, a historic, nature-rich neighborhood in Riverside known for its citrus groves, open space, and quiet residential character. Mature trees, wide streets, and abundant natural light create a sense of calm that families often describe as grounding and restorative. This environment offers privacy and space to focus while remaining accessible enough for meaningful family involvement throughout treatment. Care is trauma-informed, clinically individualized, and focused on helping each teen develop the emotional skills and self-understanding she needs to sustain progress after discharge.
Most teens stay at Muir Wood for 45–60 days, with some benefiting from up to 90 days of treatment depending on clinical progress and individual circumstances. A multidisciplinary team of licensed clinicians oversees each girl’s care. Programs are gender-separate to promote safety and focus, while treatment remains personalized, inclusive, and affirming of each teen’s identity.
Family involvement is built into every phase of the treatment experience. Parents and caregivers participate in structured family therapy, receive ongoing updates and coaching from the clinical team, and collaborate on transition planning from the earliest weeks—so the progress that begins at Edgewild carries forward into life at home.
Daily life at Edgewild is structured to extend therapeutic work beyond formal sessions. The schedule includes individual and group therapy, academics, movement, and time outdoors, balanced with quieter moments for rest and reflection. Evenings unfold in home-like residences where girls can decompress, process the day, and connect with peers. This intentional rhythm—clinically active days, restorative evenings—helps teens practice new skills in the context of real life, building confidence and capacity along the way.
This program was really wonderful for our daughter and our family as a whole. We love the parent classes and the parent support group.

What is the typical length of stay?
Most teens stay approximately 45 days, though individual needs may extend or shorten the stay. Our team collaborates with families to determine the best length for each teen's clinical progress.
