Lisa Molbert is a licensed addiction counselor with more than 27 years of experience in the treatment of substance-use disorders and behavioral health. She works as the Admissions Director and Director of Utilization Management. Lisa attended Chapman College, Louisiana State University, and Cal State East Bay. She has been lecturing to the Stanford Physicians’ Assistant Program on addiction and chronic pain for over 9 years, and has helped facilitate drop-in groups about addiction issues for Palo Alto Medical Foundation. Lisa has also lectured at Golden Gate University and University of Utah, as well as lectured for the California State Bar. Lisa is often cited as an expert in addiction, especially as it relates to assessment, pain management, trauma, compliance, and how to work with insurance to cover treatment. Some of her insurance recommendations have been published by Nolo Press. She also teaches agencies best practices with clinical documentation, and compliance, for state licensing, CARF, and Joint Commission. She has worked in numerous capacities for various agencies and professional medical corporations that serve clients with addiction and mental illness. Lisa is also a family systems interventionist who has been in business for over 16 years. Lisa is particularly good at assessment and evaluation of complex patients. She is a firm believer in collaboration with a treatment team and doing anything that is in the best interest of the people she serves. Her passion is working with individuals and families and watching them heal and grow. Lisa has been a friend to Muir Wood Since the beginning, and also created and directed their first Intensive Outpatient Program from 2016-2018. She is in the process of writing a book about discharge planning, and has plans to go to school to be a Somatic Practitioner. In her spare time, Lisa loves to cook and bake, read, hiking and dining out, and is an avid music listener and vinyl collector. She spends a lot of time outdoors with her dog, a malamute/husky mix named Zeus, enjoying the San Francisco Bay Area and all it has to offer.
